TGA recalls nature made vitamins |

March 15, 2006 By: Doug Murphy TGA recalls nature made vitaminsThe Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has ordered a consumer level recall of 99 bottles of the "Nature Made" range of vitamin products produced by the US company Pharmavite LLA. The vitamins were brought into Australia, for market research purposes by NW Consulting of NSW and then illegally marketed to Australian consumers in four pharmacies in Victoria and four pharmacies in NSW. Surveillance inspectors from the TGA received a tip off about the illegal products found at a Victorian pharmacy in October 2003. TGA investigators found it difficult to contact the company and to serve a notice on them to withdraw the products. The company has since fully cooperated with the recall which has been called because the vitamins are not registered with the TGA, (that is included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods), and because the American manufacturer does not hold an Australian Good Manufacturing Practice license from the TGA. The products have, therefore, been illegally supplied in Australia and as a result, the TGA cannot guarantee their quality and safety. About
