Melatonin has been touted as the next big thing in herbal remedies. If you have trouble sleeping, want to improve your sex drive or combat the stresses of ageing, melatonin may by the solution you are looking for. Like all herbal remedies there are a couple of things you may want to keep in mind.

Melatonin is a natural occurring hormone that is produced by the body's pineal gland. It has been found to aid in sleeping and perhaps increase the sex drive. However taking too much of the synthetic hormone may, like all substances, do more harm then good. It is always best to consult a reputable health food practitioner if you are thinking about using any herbal remedies.

Since melatonin is naturally produced, there are no restrictions on its use and it can be found in most health food and drug stores. Relatively little study has been done on it, but if you are suffering from jet lag or other sleep disorders it has been found to very effective.
